Quod accident: the three injured rescuers are better

The three CNSAS rescuers, two men and a woman, who were injured this evening while carrying out a mountain rescue operation on the Northern Grigna, are doing better. The activation by the station arrived around 9.00 pm, for three hikers, unharmed but in difficulty near the Elisa refuge. The teams left immediately, one group on foot and one group (two technicians and a CNSAS health worker) with the quad; Other volunteers are also ready to set out in support.

The vehicle with which the trio was approaching the refuge, going up from Rongio, overturned and ended up on an embankment. The rescuers who were on board were thrown and suffered some injuries. The other CNSAS technicians, together with the firefighters, immediately provided assistance; an ambulance, a nursing car, the Areu air ambulance from Sondrio and Como and the Carabinieri also intervened. In the meantime, the three hikers – unharmed – were joined by a Cnsas technician, who checked their conditions and accompanied them safely down the valley.

The three injured people were instead assessed, conditioned, placed on stretchers and immobilized on the vacuum mattress, and finally evacuated from the accident area to be transferred to hospital. Over twenty people worked on site, collaborating with considerable effectiveness and commitment, throughout the night and in an impervious environment. “On behalf of the Cnsas Lombardo, a great and heartfelt thanks to all the people and organizations who participated” reads a note from the Corps. “What happened deserves a reflection on what lies behind a rescue operation: a significant movement of people, vehicles, their complex organization and the fact that risks even for the rescuers can arise at any moment. The sense of responsibility of citizens is an integral part of this entire system, which is why we insist with appeals for prudence and awareness when going to the mountains”.
