The Bari Public Prosecutor’s Office sent the archived documents of the investigation into the mayor of Bari to the parliamentary anti-mafia commission Antonio Decaroin relation to the alleged meeting had with Massimo Parisi – brother of the boss Savino – in the Torre a Mare district, when the current mayor was Transport Councilor of Michele Emiliano. The investigation was though classified: the members of the commission themselves can consult the pages, but do not collect a copyand are obliged to keep secret on the content.

The justice collaborator spoke about the alleged meeting between Decaro and Parisi Nicola De Santis in 2019, when he provided information on mafia infiltration in Amtab, the municipal public transport company in Bari which has been under judicial administration since February 26th. “As regards the hiring of Parisi Massimo at Amtab – says De Santis, as stated in the decree with which the judicial administration of the company was arranged – I remember that he was involved in Decaro’s electoral campaigns” for the constituency “Japigia and Torre a Mare area, between 2008 and 2010; the meetings happened about 7 months earlier or at most one year before Parisi’s appointment to the Amtab. “In any case, it was a local election and Decaro was at the Transport Department”.

In addition to De Santis himself, Parisi, Decaro and others would have participated in the meeting “father Giovanni”, together with other suspects, including Michele De Tullio (Amtab employee considered a member of the Parisi clan). “De Tullio Michele – continues De Santis – told me that we had to support Decaro and Parisi Massimo would thus be hired”. Parisi, as revealed by the investigators, was actually hired by the Amtab in 2011. Statements that pushed the Prosecutor’s Office to open an investigation into the current mayor of Bari, then archived.
