For Jannik Sinner it is the third semi-final in four participations in the Miami Masters 1000. But above all, after the fall of Alcaraz on the night against Dimitrov, it was the opportunity to become number 2 in the world by overcoming his friend-enemy Carlos by winning the tournament in Florida. After beating the Czech Machac in the quarter-finals, the Italian will challenge in the semi-finals on Friday Daniil Medvedev, fresh from the victory against the Chilean Jarry. The two thus meet for the first time after the final at the Australian Open which gave Sinner the first historic Slam of his career. Even last year Jannik and Medvedev reached the end, challenging each other in the final: the Russian won the tournament. But that was also Medvedev’s last victory against Sinner, which then became taboo for him.
