Grosseto. Yesterday morning the tradition of delivering Capaci oil was renewed Bishop Giovanni Roncari for the Dioceses of Grosseto and Pitigliano-Sovana-Orbetello.
The Police Commissioner of Grosseto, Antonio Mannoni, donated the two vials containing the oil produced with the olive trees planted in Capaci crater, where, 32 years ago, the mafia massacre took place, which led to the death of judge Giovanni Falcone, his wife Francesca Morvillo and the escort agents, Antonio Montinaro, Vito Schifani and Rocco Dicillo. The symbolic gesture born from the Palermo Police Headquarters has been extended for two years to all the Police Headquarters and Dioceses of Italy.
The olive grove from which this oil comes is looked after by the Quarto Savona 15 association (radio theme song of the escort car), animated by Tina Montinaro, widow of the escort leader, who in these days (in Grosseto on 19 March) is bringing the shrine, containing the remains of the escort car, around all of Italy, in order to spread anti-mafia culture among young people and encourage them to follow the value of legality and the sense of duty that animated the policemen killed by the mafia while they were escorting Judge Falcone.
The donated oil was used on the occasion of the Chrism Mass, which Bishop Giovanni celebrated yesterday in the cathedral of Grosseto, on the occasion of Holy Thursday. The Capaci oil will be added to the oil of our land, which the Bishop will bless and consecrate so that it becomes the holy oil with which the priests, during the year, will anoint children at baptisms, the elderly, the sick and the infirm. and with which the Bishop himself will anoint the foreheads of young people in confirmations and the hands of candidates for the priesthood.
“As I recalled on the occasion of the Easter precept of the armed and security forces stationed in Grosseto, recalling the presence in our city of the carcass of the Quarto Savona Diecici and the slogan linked to the initiative, that is ‘from blood shed to blood donated ‘ – commented Bishop John –, in this expression there is the synthesis of the work and life of Christ: his shed blood becomes donated blood”.
“The blood shed is not always donated blood – has continued Monsignor Roncari – It’s not that of the mafiosi; it is instead that of those who, for profound reasons of conscience and heroic gestures, give of themselves. Names are not needed, but it is the blood of those who do not put themselves at the center of everything and everyone, but also know how to step aside and help grow. It is a blood that bears fruit, like that of Christ, which is the most beautiful and qualifying example of this sacrifice. In this oil, which comes from Capaci, there is the strength and life of the blood shed and donated by servants of the State”.
