Football, the second repetition nothing changes: Locate-Vigevano ends 3-1

In the midst of a festive atmosphere for the victory of the First Category championship, Vigevano was forced yesterday afternoon to return to the field for the second repetition of the Locate match after this week the sports judge had invalidated the 3-2 in favor of the hosts two Wednesdays ago due to a procedural error by the referee. The match, suspended last March 13th in the 39th minute of the first half due to a fault in the lighting system, was in fact resumed on a different pitch from the one where it had started. This time the result remained anchored at 3-1 at the time of the interruption. The match obviously only had value for Locate who in the event of a defeat would have been ousted from the play-offs, despite this Vigevano tried to honor their commitment by presenting themselves with the best possible team. Obviously, however, the concentration could not be that of a normal championship match, so much so that the team arrived at the pitch clearly satisfied, wearing the t-shirts celebrating the promotion. For their part, the hosts were careful not to make the match more unpleasant and it was therefore channeled into a relaxed atmosphere. However, there was no shortage of opportunities. In the six minutes that completed the first half, a nice shot from Locate Cipolla’s number 9 was foiled by a great save from Vallacchi. In the second half, however, Vigevano was more dangerous, first with a cross from Zanellati that was too long for Codagnone’s head, but the ball went off and hit the long post; subsequently Zacchi was the protagonist from the right of a great curling shot cleverly neutralized by goalkeeper Brunacci. Around the 25th minute, Mr. Castellazzi then started the round of substitutions and the match slipped towards the end without further shocks. In next Sunday’s play-off semi-final, Locate will therefore be involved on the Siziano Lanterna pitch, with Viscontea waiting for the winner of this match.

Let’s refrain from further comments on how the issue was handled by the Regional Committee, just think of what could have happened if in the first replay Vigevano had managed to overturn the result or even just get a draw…
