Let us remember that the production prices of industrial products, as theIstat, the Italian statistical institute, measure the variations over time in the prices that form in the first stage of marketing. Like the consumer price index, it is one of the main indicators of inflation. Producer prices therefore refer to transactions between companies, in particular between the selling company with production plants located in Italy and the purchasing company which operates on the national territory or abroad. L’Istat calculates them by recording the prices, net of VAT, of 1,793 products on a sample of 6,583 companies.
