According to the latest monitoring by ASL3, after the increase in the offer with the diagnostic imaging services of the accredited private individual, the services are within the expected times, in particular those which on 7 March required up to 174 days of waiting, such as the MRI with contrast, are guaranteed within 5 days. This was stated by the Liguria Region during the press point dedicated to healthcare.
“Widespread improvements” also in the provinces: in ASL 1 we went from 129 days for a brain CT scan to immediate availability; in ASL 2 it was necessary to wait 38 days for a breast ultrasound, today this time has been reduced to 11, in ASL 4 the MRI scans which used to take between 98 and 237 days, today reach a maximum of 8 days; in ASL5 for all CT scans waiting times are between 5 and 10 days, while on March 7th the expected time was 10 days.
“We are in the right direction – explains the president of the Liguria Region Giovanni Toti – we are not yet completely satisfied, but obviously we could not expect to resolve such a complex problem in just a few days. But as regards mammography, ultrasounds, a series of services such as magnetic resonance imaging which remain the most complex sector to resolve due to the huge demand and the increase in prescriptions, there have been very significant steps forward. Today it is enough to take the regional booking system to see that, at least for the most urgent services, there are no longer waiting times which were frankly intolerable, but we are in the order of 7-10 days which is absolutely in line with what is prescribed by the law and among the best regions in the country with respect to this type of performance”.
The next step will concern competitions related to the clinic, cardiac surgery, orthopedics and general surgery. “All this will be published by the end of May in instalments – explains Toti – the next one will be cardiac surgery, and we believe that from the first weeks of June, also from the point of view of therapeutic performance, the leap in quality will be visible and notable”.
However, the role of the control room remains strong, to intervene in the case of people who do not show up for the booked exams, we are still in the order of 11%. “We maintain monitoring – underlines the health councilor Angelo Gratarola – both to seek corrective measures to these situations and in the event of any fluctuations due to the past to be disposed of”.
