“Very important and can no longer be extended”. Precise words from the PD council group and the regional deputy Tiziano Spada (PD), who express concern regarding the delivery of the premises of the new barracks of the Fire Brigade Command, considered a work of “strategic importance”, also for the protection civil of the entire province.
Yesterday the PD council group presented a question on the topic to ask the Administration to monitor the process, maintaining high concentration on a structure “so important for the entire city”.
The precarious conditions in which the current building is located and the role that the Fire Brigade plays in the management of all emergencies: these are the issues on which the PD council group and Tiziano Spada are fighting.
“It is known to everyone that the structure was built by the Sicilian Region with funds under law 433 of 1991 and that, more than thirty years later, a few weeks ago a delegation announced the delivery of the structure by mid-April. The press these days, however, gives public opinion strong doubts about the delivery times – fearing that these could be further extended – and about the possibility that the use of the structure can be granted to the Fire Brigade Administration only upon payment of rent. Fears which are, moreover, reflected in the declarations and information from the Region which announce an annual rent of €299,855.22″, we read in the press release of the PD council group and the regional deputy Tiziano Spada (PD ).
The need, therefore, to deliver the new headquarters to the Fire Brigade as soon as possible.
“The summer season is now upon us and, with it, the succession of fires and extreme atmospheric phenomena: every institution must do its part so that the best solution is found and delivery can proceed quickly. No one would understand disputes with firefighters to the detriment of all citizens. Nobody wants to see a work that is almost ready and always empty again”, they comment.
