New discounts for electricity and gas bills are arriving. Here’s how much they amount to, the requirements and how to request them immediately.
They have been officially activated by the Government bonuses for 2024 bills, in order to help citizens against increases in electricity and gas prices. The aid in question takes the form of two benefits: the electricity social bonus and the water and gas bonus. The help in question has become a necessity faced with the high prices that are afflicting familiesespecially those with less money.

They are born as a consequence of the stop to the protected market for light which will take place during 2024 and initially started on January 10, 2024 with the end of the protected gas market. Soon (July 1st) the electricity market will follow, leaving the possibility of taking advantage of the protected market only to customers deemed “vulnerable”.“. Discounts on gas bills: requirements and how to request them
As already mentioned, the bonus for electricity bills concerns domestic users in difficulty. This involves multiple categories: they fall within the requirements families with an ISEE under 15,000 euros (20,000 euros with at least 40 children), beneficiaries of the Inclusion Allowance, users in precarious health conditions who need medical equipment and those over 75 (pensioners or not). The bonus for water and gas, however, is reserved for families with an ISEE up to 9,530 euros (also in this case the presence of at least 4 children raises the ISEE up to 20,000 euros). This also includes vulnerable users and those over 75.

The specific amount of the bonus depends on some factors, viz category of use (for gas), climate zone and number of members of the registered family. For the electricity bonus it must also be considered that those with an income between 9,530 and 15,000 euros will receive only 80% of the ordinary bonus. Consequently, the minimum amount is 111.93 euros per quarter, which drops to 104.65 euros above the income threshold of 9,530 euros. The bonus goes up of around fifty euros for families with four or more children.
The amount of the gas bonus is instead determined by the climate zones, but as a general rule families can expect it a maximum of 84.63 euros per quarter. Both bonuses are automatically recognized to citizens; all you need to do is present the updated Single Self-Declaration, in order to have the correct ISEE. Special case for who needs medical electronic equipmentwho will have to make a specific request to the Municipality where he resides.
