Second landslide in a few hours on the Meta Amalfi state road: portion of the ridge collapses

A second landslide in a few hours hit the state road that connects the Sorrento Peninsula and the Amalfi Coast, again throwing the provinces of Naples and Salerno into alarm. The episode occurred in the early afternoon of today, when a portion of ribs collapsed onto the state road, creating serious risks for vehicular traffic.

The Carabinieri of the Sorrento company immediately intervened on the scene to manage the situation, limiting traffic to one-way traffic while awaiting the intervention of ANAS. This decision was taken as a priority to ensure the safety of motorists traveling along that route.

This new landslide follows another critical event that occurred this morning along the Meta-Amalfi state road, where a private bus with tourists on board was hit by some boulders. The accident occurred at kilometer 6.675 of the state road, near Piano di Sorrento, on the Amalfi coast. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Both failures could be linked to the violent bad weather that affected the area in the previous days.
