They had just opened in the industrial area of Rende, in the Lecco district, but their company was already too inconvenient. Perhaps for this reason, during the night, the Gifra group’s vehicles suddenly caught fire, devastating the new headquarters. The company, born in Catanzaro and which deals with the rental of vehicles and construction platforms, found itself having to count the damage: two vehicles destroyed, 200 thousand euros sent up in smoke.
The Fire Brigade intervened on site to put out the fire and the Carabinieri who took steps to make the area safe. The investigations continue: the Carabinieri are following the arson lead and have acquired the images of the video surveillance cameras for investigations into the case.
Gifra’s desperation
“We’ve been awake for 48 hours trying to make sense of what happened last night, but the truth is, there isn’t any sense. “What happened concerns us but also concerns the entire Calabrian business system which for years has been afflicted by this black stain of cruelty and criminality from which it seems impossible to free ourselves. Having said that, there is a lot of bitterness. But we will not throw away all the work and sacrifices of recent years and we will not allow ourselves to be intimidated. We have already mobilized to ensure justice is done.”
