Last Wednesday, in Pesaro, in the Aula Magna of the Cecchi Agricultural Institute, in the prestigious setting of Villa Caprile, the planting ceremony of the persimmon descending from the plant that survived the Nagasaki atomic bomb took place.

A particularly solemn ceremony, which saw not only the Cecchi leaders with Chiara Fiorucci and the President of the Nagasaki Brescia association, Francesco Foletti, but also the extraordinary presence of the Japanese artist Tatsuo Miyajima, the one who in 1996 conceived the artistic project called “Kaki Tree Project – The rebirth of time”. A format replicated throughout the world that organizes plantings of the “children” of the Nagasaki persimmon, to which dialogue education projects and peace paths are connected. In 2021 the Kaki Tree project was brought by Gabriele Geminiani, patron of the Green Festival San Marino – Montefeltro to the Republic of San Marino and, after work lasting about a year with primary schools, it ended with the planting of the persimmon Podere Lesignano. From then on, the Kaki Tree project took root firmly in Montefeltro.

Today Gabriele Geminiani received directly from the hands of Tatsuo Miyajima, a persimmon plant which will be placed at the Floristic Research Center of the Marche based in Pesaro and pertaining to the Province of Pesaro and Urbino, next May 31st, within the project “Gardens for Peace”. The “Gardens for Peace” project, a spin-off of the Green Festival, has been included in the schedule of Pesaro, Italian Capital of Culture 2024 and will remain permanently in the Floristic Research Center of Pesaro. The organization of the Green Festival San Marino Montefeltro sincerely thanks the President and the Director of the Province, respectively Giuseppe Paolini and Marco Domenicucci, as well as the Director of the Research Center Sandro Di Massimo for the warm welcome given to the “Gardens for Peace” project, taking advantage , in the spirit of collaboration, a mode of interaction that invariably leads to the promotion and development of vital relationships for any individual involved.
