Martin Mull, a comedic actor and musician with a long career of over 120 films and numerous television appearances behind him, has passed away at the age of 80. The announcement of his passing was made by his daughter Maggie with a post on Instagram: “I am heartbroken to share with you that my father died at home on June 27 – she wrote – after a valiant battle against a long illness. He was known for excelling in every creative discipline imaginable and even for having done the Red Roof Inn commercials. He would have found this joke funny. It was never unfunny. My dad will be deeply missed by his wife and daughter, by his friends and colleagues, by his fellow artists and comedians and musicians, and – a sign of what a truly exceptional person he was – by many, many dogs. I loved him tremendously.”

As he remembers VarietyMull had received an Emmy nomination in 2016 for his role as Bob Bradley in Veep. Among the most important TV series of his career are: Mush and fat (46 episodes), Sabrina, the witch’s life (73 episodes), Two men and a half (6 episodes) e Arrested Development (4 episodes). He also had a regular role in Seth MacFarlane’s Fox series Dads, with Seth Green and Giovanni Ribisi. In 2008 he was a guest star in Law & Order: SVU.
