YouTube PremiumYouTube’s subscription service, is about to introduce a series of exciting new features for its users. Among the most anticipated features, the use of artificial intelligence to improve the viewing experience and early access to experimental features stand out. In addition, the company announced the arrival of new subscription plans.

While not all the details have been revealed yet and many features are exclusive to the US, here’s a preview of what’s coming and how they could improve the user experience.

Jump forward, and not only

One of the most interesting new features is the “Skip ahead“, which lets users jump straight to the most interesting moment in a video using artificial intelligence. This feature, currently only available to Android users in the United States, will soon be extended to iOS users.

Another novelty concerns the picture-in-picture mode for Shorts, which allows you to continue watching short videos even while using other apps. This feature is currently only available on Android.

YouTube Premium also offers its subscribers theearly access to experimental features, such as intelligent downloading of Shorts for offline viewing, a new interface for the playback page and the return of the chatbot that answers users’ questions about the content of the video. This feature is also limited to the US and Android devices for now.

YouTube then announced that it is working on new subscription plans, although no specific details were provided. Currently, YouTube Premium offers three plans: Students, Standard and Family, with prices that vary depending on the country (in Italy students costs 7 euros per month, standard 12 euros per month and family 18 euros per month.

Finally, in a recent post, a YouTube community manager shared some of the initiatives based on subscriber feedback. Among the main improvements coming are technical improvements to the video download experience and improvements to the accessibility and reliability of Premium controls and the playback queue.
