There have been so many horrible cars made in automotive history, but this model beats them all hands down.
When designing a car, one cannot forget the concept of beauty. Those who buy a car also want to find themselves in a well-finished interior full of comfortable solutions, as well as in a pleasant casing. After over a century of stylistic elaborations it is possible to draw up a ranking of the ugliest cars in history.
Italy is the home of taste and excellence, but even in our latitudes we have skeletons in the closet. Our queen of ugliness has been fully recognized as the Fiat Multipla. Inserted by Time magazine among the 50 ugliest cars of all time and who can blame them? But there is a foreign car that makes the first generation of the Multipla seem like an authentic masterpiece of style. The Tartan Prancer will make you never want to travel by car again.
Created for the Hollywood film “Vacation” (2015), the Prancer, fortunately, is a unique example. The film represents the remake of a 1983 feature film, National Lampoon’s Vacation, where the “Wagon Queen Family” Truckster was used. Without a doubt it is among the strangest cars ever, but looking at it from every angle it’s also one of the most horrific of all time. It looks like a car that emerged from the mind of a character like Homer Simpson, when in a famous episode of the TV series he had the opportunity to design, thanks to his brother, the car of his dreams.
The characteristics of the Tartan Prancer
The minivan has the particularity of having an “A side” and a “B side” that are almost identical, except for the slight inclination of the windshield. It seems like a combination of random elements. Even more absurd are the Prancer’s bizarre accessories, such as the cup holders outside the bodywork, an internal fountain, two metal ashtrays in the dashboard and the extractable steering wheel. Even more sensational are the double mirrors, mounted forwards and backwards.
The three fuel doors are perplexing. There is no shortage a remote control with indecipherable symbols (rabbit, scissors, paper, etc.) that make you smile. It has been defined as “the Honda of Albania”, but it has very little in common with the futuristic style of the Tokyo company. Check out the video below from Warner Bros.
It came out in 2015 and would have done better not to reveal itself to the world. The gem is also the invented symbol that seems to recall that of VW. In the film the actors Ed Helms and Christina Applegate, in the role of the Griswold parents, Rusty and Debbie, must have been speechless when they saw her for the first time on the set.
