10 years have passed since the debut of Sunset Overdrive on Xbox Onea particular signed Action/Adventure Insomniac Games which won the favor of critics and the public and then became a cult title over the years. A version was also produced in 2018 PCbut no other edition was ever produced.
Considering that in the console sector it has never crossed the boundaries of Xbox One, many have been hoping for years that Sunset Overdrive will arrive sooner or later on PlayStationespecially considering that since 2019 Insomniac Games has officially been part of the PlayStation Studios after the acquisition by Sony. Unfortunately, however, the hopes of a porting are up PS5 seem to be reduced to a bare minimum: responding to a follower who asked the Californian software house for a conversion or a remaster of the game on PS5 and PS4Insomniac Games simply replied that “we’re busy on Marvel’s Wolverine” thus implying that there is no space for a return of Sunset Overdrive, at least in the short term.
It’s a shame as the adventure was also considered important for the genesis of the company’s future projects: with its ideas and concepts Sunset Overdrive made Marvel’s Spider-Man and Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart possible, with Insomniac itself who consider it an important stage in your career. Even more so for many users it would be interesting to rediscover it, especially for PlayStation fans.
And there are many reasons why Sunset Overdrive is still one of the best Insomniac games. For now, however, we must make peace: the company is busy with other projects.
