As we reported yesterday, Paradox Interactive decided to cancel Life by Youa Sims-like game that seemed almost ready to hit the market in early access format.
Fans are obviously saddened by this loss, given that the hope was that the video game could propose some new ideas within the genre. Unfortunately this is not the only negative news: Paradox Interactive has in fact also decided to close development team, Paradox Tectonicas Life by You was the only project in development.

Paradox’s communication on the closure of Tectonic
Through an official statement, the company declares: “Paradox Interactive has decided to cease further operations in the studio owned by Paradox Tectonic (Tectonic) in Berkeley, California. The studio has led the development of the game Life by You since 2019, the publication of which has been cancelled, and employs 24 people.”
“This is one difficult and drastic news for our colleagues at Tectonic, who worked hard on the Early Access release of Life by You. Unfortunately, with the cancellation of their only project, we must make the tough decision to close the studio. We are deeply grateful for their hard work in pushing Paradox into a new genre,” says Fredrik Wester, CEO of Paradox Interactive.
This is just another negative announcement for the industry, as so many teams have closed or suffered cancellations over the two years. One of the most striking recent cases was that of Xbox, which closed four teams, but in recent days we have also seen the closure of Pieces Interactive, the team responsible for Alone in the Dark.
