Italy is increasingly focused on video games and the creators of the Bel Paese are increasingly showcasing quality games, worthy of global attention. We at Multiplayer.itwith our Cortocircuito, we took advantage of this announcement period to give a little more space to upcoming Italian games.

Our interview dedicated to Aftermath

First of all let’s remember that Aftermath is a horror game which will put us in the shoes of Charlie Gray, engineer and astronaut. The woman, having returned to Earth, is kidnapped by a drug cartel, she loses an arm and, once she is free, also custody of her daughter, Sammy. The game begins when Charlie wakes up alone in a broken world and all she wants is to find her daughter. The mother-daughter relationship will be an important component of the video game.

In the interview Leoni explains that the game, at the moment, is on development with Unreal Engine 5 (the team was also among the first ten in the world to gain access to the engine patch when it was published), while videos and images available online come from the previous version, which still ran on Unreal Engine 4. We therefore cannot judge visually the video game based on the old materials as they are not in the slightest representative of what the game has become.

It is also specified that the character’s face that we see in the trailer is not the one actually used for the character at this time. There face model of Charlie is Simona Tabasco, also famous outside Italy for example for her roles in The White Lotus and Immaculate – The chosen one.

Leoni then explains that the protagonist of Aftermath he is missing an arm and that to create the character they relied directly on an armless person who taught the team how to animate the characters and how to carry out a whole series of actions in the game in a faithful and credible way.

In addition, the woman suffers from PTSD where what happened to her and for the creation of the character the team was supported by an author who suffers from this very disorder. Speaking of PTSD, Leoni also explains that Hellblade was a reference point to take into account, but that Aftermath approaches the issue differently.

In terms of gameplay we can expect an action game, with shooter mechanics, stealth game and exploratory elements, even if they couldn’t reveal the way in which the maps will be structured.
