Google Maps, everything changes from December 2024: the unexpected change arrives
Google Maps: something unexpected will happen in a few months. In fact, there will be an important change to the travel history. With the new update there will be the possibility to save the location history only on the mobile device and no longer on the Cloud. Until now, users could view their movements on all devices where they had access to Google. From December 2024, this may no longer be possible.
The user’s control over their privacy therefore increases: the data will be present locally on their mobile phones and no longer on remote servers. Google has already said that this decision came to increase user privacy. The US company had already provided important tools on the privacy front, giving the user the ability to automatically clear history data.
December 1st is therefore the date to circle in red: Big G will also begin to delete history data. After clicking the profile picture on Maps, the user will then be able to select “Your timeline“. There will then be several items: it will be possible to choose whether to keep the data until manual deletion or to set up automatic deletion.
