The event Xbox Games Showcase 2024 offered us the opportunity to discover up close many of the first-party productions arriving on the Xbox Series X|S consoles in the coming months.
Among the numerous games revealed during the show – you can find them all in our dedicated recap – there was also space for Avowedthe ambitious new first-person RPG developed by Obsidian.
The trailer confirmed the expected release before the end of the year and, obviously, also availability from day-one on Xbox Game Pass (you can find it on Amazon), as well as some more in-depth information related to gameplay and plot.
Xbox also revealed that further gameplay insights should be revealed in the next few hours, but it appears that Obsidian may have also accidentally revealed the official release date as well.
According to what was reported by IGNUSthe official website of the development team has updated in the last few hours, reporting that the release of Avowed should be scheduled for 1November 2, 2024.
However, a few moments later any mention of this date was promptly removedmaking us suspect that the reveal probably arrived well ahead of the times established by Microsoft.
Of course, there’s always the possibility that it was simply a mistake and that it wasn’t actually the set date, even if the circumstances certainly seem very suspicious.
In any case, if it was really confirmed this date, it would be curious to find out why it wasn’t revealed directly during the Xbox Games Showcase 2024: the only explanation that comes to mind is that perhaps Microsoft wanted to guarantee Avowed the right space to be noticed, away from the barrage of announcements of the event.
