Did you know that you can connect to WiFi without knowing the password (and legally)?

The Wifi has now become an (almost) indispensable tool for connect to the Internet at home, in the office, wherever you are.

Everyone knows that it’s normal to have to enter your router password to use WiFi. What if there was a way to connect without having to know the password?

We’re not talking about “hacking” the WiFi of your neighbor, your boss or the local shop, but there are several interesting ways to connect to a WiFi network without necessarily knowing the password.

By following them, you can avoid having to write the long and complicated password written on the router or overcome the problem of having forgotten the password. Whatever the reason, here’s how to connect to the Internet without a password.

1) WPS

The easiest and fastest way to connect to a WiFi network without knowing the password is to use WPS (WiFi Protected Setup). This feature, present in routers since 2007, allows you to connect to WiFi with the push of a button.

To use WPS, you need to follow this procedure:

  • On your smartphone, go to Settings
  • Access the WiFi item
  • Select the WPS option
  • Approach the router you want to connect to and press the button that says WPS.

Your smartphone will connect to WiFi within seconds. If your phone does not have the WPS option, you can download a third-party application that works as a connector between your phone and router.

2) Use the QR code

QR codes are now very widespread and, among their many uses, we can also find that of being able to connect smartphones to routers, as long as there is one that can be seen.

To use this feature:

  • Open your smartphone camera and point it at the QR code on the router
  • Your phone’s QR reader will do the rest, automatically connecting you to the WiFi network without needing to enter a password.

3) Share your password

We don’t always have physical access to the router. There is therefore the possibility of sharing the password through the device of those who are already connected.

On Android:

  • Go to the menu, Connections
  • Click on WiFi and select the network you are connected to
  • Tap on the Share option. A QR code will be generated that can be scanned by another device to connect.

    On iOS (Apple):

  • Go to the WiFi menu and select the network you are connected to
  • iOS will ask you if you want to share your password with the other device
  • Make sure both devices have WiFi and Bluetooth enabled for sharing to work.

And you, did you know these ways to connect to WiFi without knowing the password?
