BMW M4 CS, lighter and with a 550 HP 6-cylinder engine

BMW has removed the veils on the new M4 CS which is going to position itself above the M4 and M4 Competition but under the M4 CSL. Equipped with a 3-litre 6-cylinder twin-turbo engine, it will be built in the Dingolfing plant starting in July. Orders will start at the end of May. At the time of writing there is still no information regarding prices for the Italian market.

LOTS OF CARBON

The German car manufacturer talks a lot about the work done to go to reduce the weight of your new sports car. The new BMW M4 CS features a roof, bonnet, front splitter, front air intakes, exterior mirror caps, rear diffuser and spoiler in carbon. Furthermore, the exhaust system is over 4kg lighter thanks to the use of a titanium rear silencer. Overall, BMW succeeded to reduce weight by around 20 kg compared to the BMW M4 Competition Coupé with M xDrive (weight of the new DIN/EU model 1,760/1,835 kg).

The new BMW M4 CS is also equipped as standard with M light alloy wheels, available in matt Bronze Gold or matt Black (19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear). Speaking of design, the new sports car is characterized by having a frameless double kidney grille reminiscent of that of the M4 CSL. On the grille we also find the “M4 CS” badge. BMW Laserlight technology with yellow LED daytime running lights is available for the headlights.

The new German sports car can be had with colors special BMW Individual Riviera Blue and Frozen Isle of Man Green Metallic, or in the standard M colors Brooklyn Gray metallic and Sapphire Black metallic.

Speaking of the cockpit, the layout is that of the BMW M4 that we already know. So, we find the BMW Curved Display with a 12.3-inch screen for the digital instrumentation and 14.9-inch for the infotainment system which has the iDrive 8.5 platform. To underline the sportiness of this model, in the passenger compartment we also find the standard M Alcantara steering wheel, with a three-spoke design and flat-bottom edge and M Carbon seats covered in Merino leather. Both the front door panels and the rear side trim are entirely covered in black leather.

The new BMW M4 CS is also equipped as standard with M Drive Professional system which includes track-optimized features such as the M Drift Analyser, which evaluates and records performed drifts, and the M Laptimer which provides detailed track lap data and allows drivers to share their performance with the community. The car is also equipped with M Traction Control.

The M Mode button on the center console can be used to adjust both the responses of the driver assistance systems and the contents displayed on the display and Head-Up Display. In addition to ROAD and SPORT settings, the BMW M4 CS also offers a TRACK mode designed exclusively for use on racetracks.

The engine is combined with the eight-speed M Steptronic gearbox and M xDrive all-wheel drive.

For example, the electronically controlled dampers of the adaptive M suspension in the new BMW M4 CS are available in a specific configuration. The car manufacturer says that on the Nürburgring circuitthe new BMW M4 CS recorded an official and verified time of 7 minutes and 21.989 seconds for the full lap of 20.832 km.
