According to what was reported by journalist Christopher Dring, based on data collected by Nielsen, Nintendo Switch 2 has surpassed the total sales of three different consoles in the UK: these are Wii U, Dreamcast and PlayStation Vita.
Launched in stores last June 5, the new Japanese hybrid console has therefore employed only six months to total higher numbers than those achieved so far in the English market by the three unfortunate platforms.
The comparison with Wii U is particularly severe, given that it is historically thelatest Nintendo flop but at the same time of a concept that the company then managed to rework and relaunch in a successful way with first Nintendo Switch and then Nintendo Switch 2.

The situation is different regarding Dreamcast and PlayStation Vita, both consoles highly appreciated by a certain niche of users but which they didn’t make any inroads also due to very strong competition, marking the end of their respective production lines.
It can be defined as a great success
The latest official data speaks of 10.36 million units sold as of September 30th for Nintendo Switch 2, but it should arrive soon an official update which will give us an idea of how the console performed during a key period such as Christmas.

What is certain is that Switch 2 has swept away the doubts of those who thought that a simple hardware upgrade would not be enough to repeat the success of the original model, yet the console is on track to succeed in this incredible feat.
