MACERATA Today is the last day of opening of the Cabaret bar under the management of Laura Splendiani and Giorgio Ripari. A farewell party, thirteen years after the opening, even if it should be immediately specified that the place will remain open with another manager. Today the last toast, «from 7pm until supplies last» we read in the invitation. Stocks that could run out soon, however, as many people have passed through Cabaret in recent years. Different life choices and Laura Splendiani and Giorgio Ripari change hands.

The feature

A place – in front of the central post office – dedicated to typical products, including alcohol, in the historic center: it might have seemed like a gamble but instead it was a success.

The greeting letter from a professor formerly of UNIMC captures the climate perfectly: «Dear Cabaret, some time ago I inquired to find out if they could enroll you in the association of historic venues in Italy. They replied that you need 70 years of seniority. I tried to explain that, in terms of intensity, an evening at the Cabaret is worth at least a year of life but they didn’t understand me. I heard you’re closing and I feel bad. To cheer me up, I’m writing to thank you. Cabaret will live forever.”

And here is the message from Ripari and Splendiani: «What was born as a challenge, a dream in the heart has today become a vibrant reality, a point of reference and, dare we say, a small “home” for many of you. If the Cabaret has managed to write its history in the fabric of Macerata, the credit is not only ours: it belongs to all of you. Thanks to our customers. Thanks to our team, to all the boys and girls who have worn our uniform over the years. Thanks for the smiles, thanks to the suppliers, to the colleagues, to our families. These 13 years have not only been made up of numbers, but of stories, meetings and bonds that will remain indelible. We have seen friendships born, we have listened to confidences and we have celebrated milestones together with you. In this long journey, our thoughts also go to those who are no longer here. We fondly remember the faces of those who have left us, but who for years made the Cabaret a more lively place with their presence. Their memory remains an integral part of this place. We hand over with the awareness of having always tried to give our best and the gratitude of having received much more.”
