Michał Kiciński acquired 100% of GOG and CD Projekt RED. This is a sort of “in-house” acquisition: Kiciński is in fact co-founder of both companies, with the digital store being an integral part of the Polish company.
The difference is that Kiciński now has full control of GOG, which will continue to operate as a separate company. The manager assures that this will not lead to significant changes for users: the platform will in fact continue to “operate independentlysupporting players and developers through its DRM-free philosophy,” while maintaining relationships with CD Projekt.
GOG will continue to publish CD Projekt RED games in the future
In the statement that accompanied the announcement, GOG states that the acquisition it will not change the platform’s commitment to preserving classic games for PC, but rather it will further strengthen this mission.

“GOG has always been built on solid values and clear principles. When Marcin Iwiński and Michał Kiciński first had the idea for GOG in 2007, the vision was simple: bring classic games back to players and ensure that once they purchase a game, it truly belongs to them, forever. In a market increasingly defined by mandatory clients and closed ecosystems, that philosophy seems more relevant today than ever.”
“This new chapter aims to further strengthen that vision. We want to do more to preserve the classics of the pastcelebrate the great games of today and help shape the classics of tomorrow, including new titles with an authentic retro spirit.”
As part of the deal, GOG has signed a distribution deal with CD Projekt which provides the publication on GOG of all upcoming CD Projekt RED gamestherefore including The Witcher 4 and the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077.
GOG, how to live the present and the future without forgetting the past
“CD Projekt and GOG share the same roots and values: freedom, independence and a genuine sense of ownership. I believe that CD Projekt, with its exceptional AAA games, will continue as always to support GOG’s offering, making it the best place in the world to buy The Witcher and Cyberpunk games, both existing ones and the new titles that we all await with great enthusiasm,” said Kiciński.
Michał Nowakowski, co‑CEO of CD Projekt, added: “Now that our focus is fully on a ambitious development roadmap and the expansion of our franchises with new high quality products, we felt this was the right time to take this step. GOG has been operating independently for a long time. Now it passes into excellent hands: we are convinced that, with the support of Michał Kiciński, one of the co-founders of GOG, its future will be full of great projects and successes.”
