In the war between online shooters this year, after Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 seems to have already had the worst of it during the launch period, ARC Raiders is now tearing up Battlefield 6 come users connected on Steama two months after the release.

We are referring exclusively to the data collected by SteamDB, which only tell a part of the reality given that we are talking about users simultaneously connected only on Steam, but they are nevertheless indicative data for games that are based above all on multiplayer online and they have a large amount of players on PC.

The performance of the titles in question on consoles remains out of the sample, which could show rather different data, but as far as Steam is concerned the situation is definitely shaping up in favor of the Embark Studios game.

A question of long-term support

According to what SteamDB found, after an exciting start Battlefield 6 is continuing to progressively losing players on PC, having gone from a record of almost 750,000 users connected at launch to recent peaks of around 120,000 players, still notable numbers but decidedly far from those recorded at launch.

ARC Raiders, on the contrary, is demonstrating a constant trend in these two months, continuing to record daily peaks between 350,000 and over 400,000 playersdemonstrating how Embark is managing to keep the focus on their game.

The ARC Raiders Cold Snap update arrives tomorrow – here are the details

It must be said that these are quite different titles: with the DICE shooter closer to the classic standard of the competitive first-person multiplayer shooter and ARC Raiders which mixes elements of survival and extraction shooter, but it is clear that the trend on the two titles is reversed.

Battlefield 6 was called upon to revive the series after the disaster of the previous chapter and, in an initial phase, it seemed to have achieved its objective, but DICE is perhaps encountering some difficulties in organizing a long-term support able to keep the players’ attention high.

ARC Raiders, on the contrary, seems to have managed to find the right formula even over a prolonged period of time and to maintain an active and large community, despite some inevitable controversy over post-launch initiatives, such as the recent wipe that arrived with the first Expedition.
