A few days after the news of the tragic death of Gianluca Vialli, who has been ill for some time, the emotion in Italy (and beyond) does not subside. In our country, two masses are scheduled to remember the former footballer, while the funeral will be held privately in London.
The mass in remembrance of Gianluca Vialli in Cremona
In today’s day, Monday 9 January 2023at 18.30, is scheduled in the parish Christ the King of Cremona a suffrage mass in memory of Gianluca Vialli.
At the same time, “his” Cremona will honor the former footballer’s memory during the Serie A match against Verona by wearing one commemorative shirt. The club’s announcement on the official website: “Monday 9 January, Gianluca Vialli will take the field with us. Luca will be present in our hearts and on our shirt: his shirt ”. The message reads again: “At the ‘Bentegodi’ Cremo will face Hellas Verona with a special away shirt with the image of Vialli and the writing ‘Ciao Luca’ on the left sleeve. In the following days, the commemorative jerseys worn on the occasion by the Grigiorossi will end up at auction (the modalities will be announced shortly) and the entire proceeds will be donated to the Vialli and Mauro Foundation. Luca with us forever”.
Mass for Gianluca Vialli in Rome
At the will of the FIGC, Thursday 12 January 2023 another mass is planned for Gianluca Vialli a Romeat the Church of Saint Teresa of Jesus.
The mass will be attended, among others, by the president of the FIGC Gabriele Gravina, the minister for sport and young people Andrea Abodi and the president of Coni Giovanni Malagò. Sunday 8 January, on the website of the Figc one has been published letter written by Federal President Gravina to Gianluca Vialli.
One passage in the text reads: “Even now, in the deep pain in which we abandoned ourselves for the news that we never wanted to receive, we of the Azzurra family embrace each other in a big physical and virtual embrace, to try to find comfort and try to ease the pain of detachment from such a special person”.
The funeral of Gianluca Vialli in London
Gianluca Vialli’s funeral will not be held in Italy, but it will be privately to London, in England. The exact date is not yet known.
