“It was a lively race up front, it was important for us to keep up with Russell. Mercedes has a small advantage, then Piastri was very fast at the end. Third place is a good result, we are happy and proud of what we did because 15 points and third place are a good result. It was, in short, a good day and a good battle”. This was Carlos Sainz’s comment, third at the end of the Austrian GP. “We come from a couple of races in which we didn’t have what we needed for the win. At Silverstone we hope for a good result, we will push hard to stay in the fight” added the Ferrari driver.

“We were always in 4th-5th place throughout the weekend – adds Sainz to Sky – Piastri was very fast, the McLaren was flying today, but I’m happy with the result, we didn’t expect it”. The Spaniard admits, however, that “it’s been two weekends since the first Ferrari finished behind the first Mercedes. They have a tenth more. The team must help us for Silverstone where there are a series of fast corners. We are doing everything we can to also remove the bouncing of the car which penalizes us in qualifying and in the race. Charles Leclerc he comments on his GP like this: “I tried to avoid any contact. Piastri is not to blame, on the other side there were three cars and I couldn’t do anything. This contact affected my race a lot. I needed the Safety car to get back in the battle and it didn’t arrive. It was impossible to recover 40 seconds lost on the first lap. Then I ended up behind Lando Norris and was stuck. In short, it was a race to forget, very influenced by the first lap.”
