The Ferrari seems to have lost that momentum of Monte Carlo and, also here in Austria, turns out to be the fourth strength of the championship. The fourth and sixth places of Sainz and Leclerc suggest one uphill race where at most we can fight for third place. Of note is Leclerc’s mistake in his last attempt, which potentially took away a couple of positions on the grid.
For tomorrow’s GP, the first two steps of the podium seem to be the exclusive prerogative of Verstappen and Norris.
The Q1 it ended with the best time of Sainz over Piastri, Verstappen, Norris and Magnussen. Eliminated: Albon (Williams), Stroll (Aston Martin), Bottas (Sauber), Sargeant (Williams), Zhou (Sauber). Even in the Q2 Max Verstappen went wild, setting the best time, followed by Sainz, Russell, Hamilton, Piastri, Norris, Leclerc, Perez, Hulkenberg and Ocon. Eliminated: Ricciardo (Racing Bulls), Gasly (Alpine), Magnussen (Haas), Tsunoda (Racing Bulls) and Alonso (Aston Martin).
