The adventure of the only Italian couple registered for the Baden Future, the one formed by Aurora Mattavelli and Maria Rachele Mancinelli, ends in the round of 16. The blue couple won the first match, anything but simple, beating the hosts Friedl/Trailovic 2-1. After losing the first set at 20-22, the Italians dominated the second set (21-11) and won a very tight tie break 15-12, ensuring their passage to the knockout stage.
In the final of the group Mancinelli/Mattavelli had to surrender to the solid Czechs Dvornikova/Pospisilova who clearly won 2-0 (21-15, 21-14) a one-sided match. In the round of 16 the Italians came up against le australiane Fleming/Milutinovic, holding out for the first set, lost in the final with a score of 21-17 and clearly giving up the second set with a score of 21-14. Today the semifinals and finals of the women’s tournament and the eighth-finals and quarter-finals of the men’s tournament are being played where there are no Italians.
