The starting grid of the Sprint Race of the 2024 F1 Austrian GP: here are the results of the Qualifying Shootout on the Spielberg circuit. The hunt for pole begins on Friday, and this qualifying session is valid exclusively for tomorrow morning’s sprint race and not yet for the canonical one on Sunday. After FP1 ended with Verstappen in the lead, now we get serious and it’s forbidden to make mistakes. Below is the updated Austrian sprint grid.
Q1 – The two Kick Saubers of Bottas, eighteenth, and Zhou, twentieth, are eliminated, Albon’s Williams is out but surprisingly his teammate Sargeant makes the cut. Hulkenberg’s Haas was also eliminated, with Magnussen inside, as was Ricciardo’s Racing Bulls with Tsunoda instead inside. Best time for Max Verstappen ahead of Russell, then Sainz and Norris, Hamilton risks being excluded but survives.
