As expected, Jorge Martin was one of the great protagonists of the classic Thursday media day which precedes the GP d’Olandaeighth appointment of the 2024 MotoGP World Championship on stage this weekend on the fun Assen circuit. In fact, as we know, the rider currently working for Team Pramac has signed a contract that will bind him to Team Aprilia starting from next season after having been in contention for a long time to join Bagnaia at the official Ducati.

The Iberian initially commented on his choice, starting from the difficult weekend at the Italian GP, a prelude to the announcement: “It was a very stressful weekend at Mugello. I had some ideas and information that changed a lot during the weekend, only at the end of the race I understood that I had to make a decision. Sometimes in life things don’t go as you want and it was quite frustrating after 4 years in Ducati. I took the opportunity Aprilia, I’m going to a place where they want me and can give 100%. However, there are still a lot of stages in this season and I remain focused on the world championship

Martin then continued: “I am a Ducati rider and I will give 100% to try to win. They told me that things will continue as they have been so far and there will be no problem. I spoke to Ducati after Montmelò and everything seemed clear. On Sunday evening after Mugello I saw that things were not so clear and I made a decision. I wanted to have clear ideas for the future. It was a bit frustrating after all this time not to arrive in the official team”

But about the future, “Martinator” prefers not to reveal his secrets: “Aprilia? It is certainly early to talk in detail about next season, after Valencia there will certainly be time to focus on this project and adapt as best as possible. The bike is super competitive, the potential is there and it is very good. We’ll see how Aprilia goes on this circuit. There are three teams that are very strong on all tracks, Aprilia will be strong but it won’t be the only team.”

The Iberian then underlined how his friend Espargarò did not influence his final decision. “Espargaro did not influence my decision to go to Aprilia. Having information about the team I was going to is certainly important, but I made a decision based on what I felt with my heart. I feel that I will be happy and fast with the Noale house“.

And about the weekend in Holland, Martin was once again clear: “I am focused and concentrated, I think I can do a great job. Mugello was difficult not only mentally but also emotionally, even though I was trying to stay out of my plans for the future. I am sure that with this certainty about 2025 I will be able to focus more on the race.“.
