The last farewell to Ninì, heart and history of volleyball in Vico del Gargano

Sciscio: “Gaetano Cotroneo has left us, a man of value and immense sporting culture”

VICO DEL GARGANO (FG) – “Gaetano Cotroneo has left us. In offering him our emotional and final farewell, we want to remember how important he was for Vico del Gargano, how important he was for all of us.

Ninì, as he was known by everyone, loved volleyball and passed on this love to many people, to many young people, girls and boys, making this sport a vehicle of values, friendship, sociability and authentic passion. As a young man he had played volleyball, even reaching Serie B. Later, together with many lifelong friends, he was among the protagonists of the Viche volleyball movement, first participating in the foundation of “Volley San Marco” then giving life to the “Polisportiva San Pietro ”, also winning two important promotions to D chairs. As a coach he trained dozens of girls and boys, motivating them, making them passionate about a healthy, exciting sporting activity, always considering volleyball as a tool for growth and training, but also as a lever to fly high, to be happy with yourself and with others.

Everyone in Vico and in the entire province of Foggia knew and respected coach Niní, who represents volleyball in Vico. Everyone knew and appreciated the technical skills and above all the human value of the great Ninì.

This is why, on the day he is no longer with us, we want to feel him even closer to us, paying homage to a person who was able to transmit and teach happiness through volleyball. To the girls and boys who followed and admired him, to the teammates who shared his journey of commitment to sport, to his lifelong friends and family, our condolences and the most affectionate embrace.

You were a great Nini, we will never forget you.”
