Doors. The Sport Inclusion Cup closed the inclusive volleyball season in style

June 24, 2024

The “Sport Inclusion Cup” tournament concluded the volleyball for special season at the Porte sports facilities on 23 June 2024. A growing reality as Marco Tealdo explains.

On Sunday 23 June the “Il Podio” sports facility in Porte hosted the second edition of the “Sport Inclusion Cup” volleyball tournament, a moment of confrontation between five teams: Sport Inclusion (Yellow and Blue); Fuori Onda in Turin; UnionVolley Pinerolo and Freedom and Courage by Piscina.

The Sport Inclusion Cup is characterized by the search for a positive and convivial climate, demonstrated by the lunch that brings together the athletes and companions of the various teams.

Volleyball for children with disabilities

The tournament represents only one stage – albeit an important one – of a project born in 2019 at the “Il Podio” sports facilities in Porte on the initiative of the Cooperativa Sociale Coesa and the sports association Tutti Escluso and aimed at children with various types of disabilities ( intellectual, relational, physical), with the aim of achieving in volleyball the results achieved in football by the Juventus for Special project.

An experience that consolidates

«This year – says one of the managers Marco Tealdo – we consolidated our experience, also participating with excellent results to some tournaments; we were able to tell our story, not only in the newspapers, but also on Radio Beckwith in the program “Show comes back to mind”».

Three groups based on ability

At an organizational level, the training sessions are on Wednesday and Friday afternoons, there are three groups diversified according to ability: competitive, pre-competitive and non-competitive, each followed by two coaches. «The competitive one (about twelve athletes) is followed by Laura Rostan and Pavel Ricca, the pre-competitive one by Marta Borca, Andrea Maglio assisted by Giuseppe Petenzi, Claudio Bernardinello and Giovanna Taverna. Instead, Elena Tomalino, Mattia Bert and Stefano Sigolo follow the group made up of kids with greater motor difficulties to whom they propose gentle gymnastics exercises based on volleyball techniques.”

The help of the Scouts of Abbadia Alpina

Tealdo also points out a beautiful collaboration born during the last season: «Four boys from the Scout group of Abbadia Alpina began taking turns to participate in training alongside our trainers, it is a beautiful experience to be confirmed and, if possible, implemented ».

Growth goal, but volunteers needed!

For the next season the objective is to grow further: «We would like to further divide the groups and try to do a bit of scouting, looking for new elements to include in the teams, all this in the logic of pursuing growth in our movement, growth which will however require a greater number of volunteers and sponsors, in addition to the precious ones who already support us Banca Generali Private, Tecnoplants and, of course Il Podio. To those who want to give us a hand (editor’s note: you can contact the numbers: 347.057.40.16 – 371.182.11.27), we say not to be discouraged if they don’t have experience, before starting with the activities, we will give them some training…”
