Leonardo Zanandrea put his seal in the 1st Trophy Remembering Bottecchia race reserved for the U17 student category. About eighty U17 students colored the village of Peonis di Trasaghis, from where the event organized by Ciclo ASSI Friuli started.
The group, lined up at the KM in front of the memorial stone commemorating the legendary champion, set off when Stefania Pisu, mayor of Trasaghis, lowered the checkered flag. A technically valid but not excessively demanding route which saw the participants complete three laps between the green of the Val del Lago and the intense blue of the Lake of the Three Municipalities, during the second lap Matteo Lipstick he tries to use a bit of imagination, gains about twenty seconds, but finds no alliances.
The race.
After putting on a show and receiving applause from the numerous fans crowded along the route, the race leaves the tranquility of this beautiful corner of Friuli Venezia Giulia and heads towards Bordano, a small village colored by murals of butterflies and cyclists, a couple of hairpin bends lead at the Sella Monte Festa Mountain Grand Prix. Meanwhile, the tandem formed by has consolidated in the lead Alessandro Canton and Leonardo Zanandrea that at the GPM they share the prizes offered by a Group of Workers who in their working life have brought honor to Friuli VG in various construction sites around the world.
The leading pair on the Braulins bridge had a 25″ advantage. Before crossing the Tagliamento there was a fall in the group but without consequences. In the end a Zanandrea came out on top, Canton second and the indomitable Campagnolo third.
A varied top ten where Borgo Molino reigns supreme but also Venetians and Friulians and Jules Catil the of the French team that the organizers invited in this first edition of the Remembering Bottecchia trophy; a race which, at the awards ceremony where councilor Mara Gubiani brought the greetings of the City of Gemona, was promised by organizers and authorities, it will have a future.
