A Sunday dedicated to Italian tennis will not be the first and it will not be (with fingers crossed) even the last of this year full of successes. Jannik Sinner tries it in Halleas well as double Bolelli-Vavassoriwhile he will be busy in London Lorenzo Musetti. The common denominator will be the grass, the surface of the moment ahead of Wimbledon.
Sinner: the reaction to the sneeze goes viral
Second set, the score is 6-5 for the Chinese Zhang with Jannik Sinner serving at 40 all. It’s a very delicate moment of the match and just at the moment of lifting the ball for the first serve from the stands comes a loud and decidedly untimely sneeze. Sinner lets go of the ball and starts laughing but the decidedly unusual episode doesn’t go away easily. The blue gets ready to serve again but just can’t hold back his laughter. It takes a few seconds to regain composure and as if nothing had happened a decidedly important ace arrives: yet another demonstration of how the blue player always manages the situation in the best possible way.
Tomorrow will obviously be another test for him, with the very difficult challenge against the Polish Hubert Hurkacz. The match scheduled for 2pm at the Gerry Weber Stadion will be decidedly complicated against the Pole who is a decidedly fearsome player on grass.
Musetti found but his temperament…
Lorenzo Musetti finally seems to have found himself. The tennis player from Carrara, after a bad end to 2023 and a 2024 with many ups and downs, seems to have found the right push thanks to grass. Last week the semi-final arrived in Stuttgart with the defeat against Berrettini in the derby, but at Queen’s the Tuscan once again found the right push and will take to the pitch tomorrow at 3pm against the American Tommy Paul.
But Musetti’s behavior, like the rest of his game, bears little resemblance to that of Jannik Sinner with whom he will play doubles at the Paris Olympics. On the pitch Lorenzo brings out all his talent and flair, but sometimes he tends to exaggerate in his reactions with social media who caught some not exactly referable lips during the semi-final with Thompson.
Vavassori-Bolelli: the double is a certainty
In a week with many victories and some surprises, the certainty is represented by the double formed by Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori. After the final at Roland Garros, the two Italians try again on the grass of Halle with the final match which will be against the hosts, the Germans Puetz and Krawietzwith an appointment scheduled for 11.30 am.
