the new Authority costs nine times as much as Covisoc

There Independent commissionintroduced by DL Sports wanted by the minister Andrea Abodi and from that for the Economy Giancarlo Giorgetti to monitor the accounts of football clubs, but also the world of basketball, has created more than a few discontents in the world of Italian sport.

While on the one hand there are fears of repercussions from FIFA And UEFAwho have already sent a concerned letter to the FIGC on the issue, a second problem arising from this paradigm shift is linked to costs. An increase that would be notable and would have an impact partly also on clubs which the commission itself should supervise.

Precisely the president of the Football Federation Gabriele Gravinawho spoke in the Culture Committee of the Chamber, reiterated how the Covisoc both, at the moment, completely paid by the FIGCfor a cost total of 400,000 euros per year. L’disbursement for the Commission instead it would skyrocket 3.5 million, nine times as much. These would be divided between the Football Federation (1.9 million) and clubs (1.6 million). In short, a novelty desired by the government which however affects the accounts of the world of football, which has been asking for state intervention for months. And the abolition of Growth Decree goes in the opposite direction.

In the Commission, Gravina then explained what the critical points concerning the Commission are: «I don’t see these requirements, Covisoc does not follow the four-year Olympic period and registrations for the next championships have already been made. Covisoc worked brilliantly. There rule violates not only the principles of economics of the market but it is clear not in line with the principles of autonomy established by the sentences of the Constitutional Court». The law decree, it is worth remembering, was voted positively in the Council of Ministers, but to become operational it requires the conversion into lawwhich however is expected in the next few weeks.
