The world of Formula 1 is enjoying one of the most exciting seasons in recent years. Although Max Verstappen and Red Bull remain the favorite pairing to win it all, the ‘return’ to high levels of Ferrari and McLaren is making everything more spectacular.
Six victories out of 9 GPs contested for the Dutchman who returned to show all his superiority over the weekend in Canada. We wonder, however, who could actually be the best pair of drivers in Formula 1 and the revelation that arrived a few hours ago has shocked everyone. Speaking about it is Helmut Marko who, at the microphones of ‘Journal de Montreal‘ left everyone stunned with an absolutely unexpected announcement.
Verstappen and Perez the best couple? Far from it. For Red Bull’s strategic advisor, we should look at McLaren. With great honesty the 81-year-old Austrian revealed how Norris and Piastri, right now, represent the most talented pairing in Formula 1. “For me, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are the best driver duo in the paddock, they are young and hungry drivers. And then they get along very well and work well together.”
A perfect mix, with the two British talents bringing quite a few points to the Scuderia of Woking in this first part of the season. At Red Bull, Sergio Perez’s recent disappointing performances have certainly not left the fans happy. The Mexican’s renewal, inexplicable for many, was signed until 2026: a 1+1 contract for which Christian Horner seems to have pushed more than Marko.
Probably hence the ‘choice’ of the Red Bull advisor to reward the McLaren drivers, despite Marko having always praised Max Verstappen’s infinite talent. Something unobtainable, according to him, in the paddock. Despite this, Norris and Piastri are the best pairing for Marko: and who knows, in the future Red Bull might think of at least one of them, given that both contracts will expire in 2026.
