Giorgione Volleyball vice-champion of Italy

Giorgione Pallavolo is vice-champion of Italy in Volley S3, the 3×3 antechamber of actual volleyball (Giorgione – San Donà di Piave 1-2: 12-15, 15-10, 14-15). Even if they missed out on the tricolor by just one point, the girls coached by Paolo Carotta and Anna Toniato achieved the best result ever for Castelfranco Veneto volleyball. Never before had Giorgione Volleyball reached this high level. Thanks to Ludovica Finotti, Angelica Barone, Adele Guber, Virginia Barban and Anna Filippetto. And the usual two: Anna Toniato, 81 years old, and her student Paolo Carotta, applauded by the many fans and friends who flocked to nearby Caorle, home of the national finals. June 12, 2024 will therefore be a date to remember because it marks the new corporate peak.

It is the perfect synthesis of Giorgione Volleyball: past, present and future

A peak which, if seen from another perspective, also stands outside of time, making past, present and future coincide in a moment of perfect synthesis. The past, with Anna Toniato founder of the sports club in 1969; the present with Toniato herself and Paolo Carotta, who in a decade at the helm of the first team led Giorgione’s colors from Serie C to victory in the regular season in B1; the future, with these five under 12 athletes who are vice champions of Italy, some of whom we will meet again in the national championships within five or six seasons.

Tricolor silver seals a season to remember

The silver tricolor in S3 (formerly minivolley) seals a season in itself worth remembering because, despite the disappointment of not landing in Serie A, Castelfranco had never won the regular season in B1 nor had access to the Final Four of B1 Italian Cup by virtue of the title of winter champion. Furthermore, a regional championship had never been won, won a month ago – ironically – by the under 12 S3 volleyball team against San Donà. All this, added to the territorial under 12 volleyball title, the territorial title of the under 13 coached by Ornella Dengo and the second territorial place in the under 14s. A sea of successes that confirm the excellence of the Castelfranco sports club which however remains the feeling, especially in the first team, of having achieved 30, but not 31. All the more reason, at the dawn of the club’s 55th anniversary, not to stop here.

Paolo Carotta coach of Giorgione Pallavolo: “we are proud of this result”

Paolo Carotta: «Giorgione Pallavolo had never reached a national final so we are proud of this result even though I clearly would have preferred to win. To get to a national final you need dedication and passion: Anna Toniato taught me this over the years and this is the approach that has guided my work with this team too.”

Anna Toniato; “merit of a lucid work”

Anna Toniato: «From 1969 to today we have experienced years of successes but also of disappointments. I have always gone to the gym for the best possible result and today we just came close to it. Thanks to clear work on the fundamentals without the obsession of immediate results.”
