De Minaur, double celebration: final and best ranking

Alex De Minaur’s rise continues. The Australian reached the final at the Libema Open, the ATP 250 in ‘s-Hertogenbosch and is thus certain to climb to number 8 on Monday, his best ranking. By winning the title he will become number 7.

In the semi-final, the Australian beat the French Ugo Humbert 76(4) 63. In the title match he will face the American Sebastian Korda, number 26, who beat the Dutch Tallon Griekspoor in the semi-final (23) 62 64 .

The Australian will play his 17th ATP final (8-8 the balance of the previous sixteen), the third on grass after the victory at Eastbourne in 2021 against Sonego and the defeat at Queen’s in 2023 against Alcaraz. Korda, however, will play his seventh final, the first since Astana 2023 and the first on grass. The first American to reach the final in the history of the tournament since Richey Reneberg in 1996, he is aiming for the second title of his career.

De Minaur and Korda have faced each other three times in the past: the Australian is ahead 2-1, but the American won their only previous match on grass in the first round at Wimbledon in 2021.
