Virtus left yesterday morning for Pesaro, where today 16 June (two-ball at 8.30pm) they will take to the pitch for game 2 of the promotion play-off against coach Foglietti’s Italservice. The Ragusans, who prevailed last Wednesday in game 1, will be promoted to the National Serie B championship if successful. Otherwise we would go to the “bella”, scheduled for Thursday 20 June again at PalaPadua. An eventuality that Virtus, after the scorch of the first final with Capo d’Orlando, would obviously like to avoid.
“We have to keep our feet on the ground – explains Gianni Recupido on the eve of the match which will be played over 1,000 km from home -. We are facing an experienced and very tactical team, with very talented players. At home we were good at not making them do what they are used to doing, but if we want to have ambitions we must improve both from a technical, tactical and above all mental point of view.”
During game 1 Ragusa made the decisive run in the third quarter, doubling the intensity on both sides of the pitch and putting the Pesaro attack in difficulty with an attentive defense, which allowed the opponents just 62 points: “The intensity is our best weapon – asserts Recupido – but I want to underline once again that we need to be tactically more careful than a few nights ago, trying to solve some problems that became apparent during the match”. The challenge at the Palamegabox in Pesaro will take place on Sunday at 8.30pm. Di Santo (Chieti) and Galieri (Termoli) will referee the match.
