Maybe not many, but it happens and it’s not always easy to accept depriving yourself of what has long been a traveling companion. Whether for a mere economic issue, or for affection and memories, saying goodbye is always hard. Well, for those who know they have an obsolete scooter in their hands and for no reason in the world want to get rid of it, there is good news. Starting from next September, a package will be on sale to revisit your scooter in a modern key.
For the moment it will only be applicable on those branded Honda, Yamaha and Piaggio, but by the end of 2024 the number of interested manufacturers will increase. Someone might turn up their nose at this opportunity, given that the law prevents you from touching key components of any vehicle, distorting its essence. Indeed, this would be the case, but thanks to a newly approved regulation under the name of “Electrical Requalification System” will make it feasible and legal to retouch motorcycles and mopeds L category with maximum speed of 45 km/h.

Obviously the part related to safety cannot be distorted, but for the rest with the so-called Talet-e you can give yourself an e-scooter without actually buying it. Behind this idea there is a basic principle, namely the need to increasingly refer to renewable energy, creating an increasingly circular and reuse-oriented economy, in order to reduce waste.

Simply remove the fairing, dismantle the engine, the transmission cover, the exhaust, the tank and the wiring, the latter to be replaced with the ad hoc one for a battery-powered unit. At that point we proceed with the assembly of the new engine and all the electronic sections on the chassis, in addition to the fixed and removable accumulators. Before replacing the fairing, a test is advisable. An operation within everyone’s reach, or almost.
The kit, priced at 2,500 euros, is made up of 80% shared parts, while the remaining 20 are customizable. Clearly Once the conversion is complete, a new registration document will be required.
