Rugby market: François Mey could go on loan to ProD2

François Carlo Mey could play next season in ProD2, the French second division, with the Biarritz Olympique shirt.

According to what the French regional newspaper says The Mountainswhich mainly deals with Clermont and Brive at oval ball level, Clermont should open the doors of their outgoing transfer market, sending out on loan their brightest profiles at youth level among those who have been part of the Espoirs team this season and who reached the semi-final of the top transalpine youth championship.

Specifically, says the source, Mey would be leaving on loan for the French Basque country club together with Georgian prop Giorgi Dzmanashvili.

Biarritz, a glorious French rugby club, has won five national titles and a Challenge Cup, but in recent years it has been going through great difficulties, mainly economic. After relegation from the Top 14 in the 2021/2022 season and a disappointing last season in the second division, the team finally changed ownership in the middle of this year and saved itself from the bogey of relegation to the Nationale. The next season could be that of the relaunch of a historic square like the red and white one, perhaps thanks also to the talents of the former Azzurrino born in 2003.

Mey hasn’t been able to find space in Clermont this season, but at this point in his career he needs important minutes in the senior field to grow further, while in the meantime the Italian national team has decided to focus heavily on him by including him in the list of players called up for the summer tour between Samoa, Tonga and Japan.
