Third victory of the season for the sprinter Chiara Consonni who yesterday won the SPAR Flanders Diamond Tour in a sprint in Nijlen, Belgium.
After 136.6 kilometers of race and great work by the whole team, which also included some young people from the UAE Development Team, perfect lead out by Federica Venturelli and Lara Gillespie and a powerful sprint from Chiara Consonni who can raise her arms to the sky again. Anniina Ahtosalo (Uno-X Mobility) and Kathrin Schweinberger (CERATIZIT-WNT) were beaten.
Chiara Consonni said after the race: “I thought it would be a calmer race, but it wasn’t at all because Lidl-Trek and EF didn’t want to get to the sprint and attacked all day. About halfway through the race, a large group of about thirty athletes left. Tutte hanno fatto un grande lavoro e sono molto orgogliosa delle mie compagne”.
Il Direttore Sportivo Cherie Pridham ha detto: “Con la splendida giornata di oggi chiudiamo un ottimo weekend qui in Belgio. La squadra ha corso molto bene insieme, sempre secondo il nostro piano, con un trio forte e disciplinato nel gruppo di testa. Una menzione speciale la meritano Venturelli e Lara, che hanno messo Consonni nellle migliori condizioni per conquistare la vittoria”.
