Novak Djokovic will do everything to be on the court at Wimbledon. The Serbian champion has in fact decided to try to perform what seems like a real miracle to be present at the English slam. He will be in London on Monday and will begin to test his condition, at the moment there is still no certainty either one way or the other but optimism seems to be growing.
Djokovic chasing a miracle
It’s been just 17 days since he underwent knee surgery Novak Djokovic after injury immediately at Roland Garros but the Serbian he wants to do everything to be present at Wimbledon. On Monday the former world number 1 will fly to England and begin testing his condition on grass to understand if there are margins for participating in the English slam. It would be something very similar to a miracle, especially considering the fact that Nole’s identity card reads “37” and being able to return to the field in about a month could fall within the realm of sporting feats.
Taylor Fritz’s precedent
There is a precedent that gives support to Novak Djokovic’s hopes Taylor Fritz with the American managing to play at Wimbledon after undergoing a very similar knee operation after getting injured in the second round of Roland Garros. However, Fritz was obviously much younger than Djokovic is now and had a few more days available to recover. And it was the American player himself who revealed that the Serbian contacted him recently: “I told him how it was for me. Much of the problem lies in inflammation and how your head acts. When I had surgery, I couldn’t even walk. But every person is different. You recover your strength immediately but the inflammation from the operation is what takes its toll. If you start playing and there is no swelling then it means you are ready to be on the pitch”.
Lacoste’s gaffe
However, a gaffe of his also arrives in the Djokovic universe historic sponsor Lacoste who decided to launch an exclusive tracksuit on his website commemorating the victory of the Serbian’s 25th title. The only problem in the situation is that Djokovic for the moment he is stuck at 24 Slam titles with the latest coming at the US Open on September 10th. The item of clothing put on sale in a limited edition at a cost of 350 dollars, however, could become a collector’s item precisely because of the 25 which is on display.
