MotoGP, Jorge Martin has signed with Aprilia: it’s official

03 Jun 2024 by Matteo Bellan

Aprilia has announced the hiring of Martin, he will replace Espargaro from next year.

On the day in which confirmation arrived on Marc Marquez’s move to the Ducati factory team, an official announcement also arrived: Jorge Martin will race with Aprilia from 2025. The current leader of the MotoGP standings has signed with the Noale company, he will take the place of his friend Aleix Espargaro. The latter will stop being a full-time driver and become a tester (probably with Honda).

MotoGP, Jorge Martin: goodbye red dream

Martin would have really liked to be chosen by the official Ducati team, given the results of 2023 and also this year. You can’t say he didn’t deserve that place. However, the Borgo Panigale manufacturer made a different choice and preferred to focus on Marquez. The latter is doing very well with the Gresini team’s Desmosedici GP23 and evidently they consider him a better choice than Jorge.

Only time will tell if Ducati was right to put Marc together with Pecco Bagnaia. Meanwhile, the current Prima Pramac team rider has found a valid alternative and will try to bring the MotoGP title to Noale. There had also been talk of contacts with KTM, but he will race in the black suit in 2025. His manager Albert Valera, the same as Espargaro, has stipulated a good contract with Massimo Rivola.

As for Enea Bastianini, his manager Carlo Pernat spoke from Mugello mentioning both Aprilia and KTM as options, in addition to Yamaha. In the next few days you will know more. Certainly her second place in the Italian Grand Prix increased her rating, which dropped a little after the bad race in Barcelona.
