Special day for the city of Carcare which on June 2nd was “invaded” by just over 300 children aged 5 to 10 on the occasion of the final of the Scipione tour of FIPAV Liguria Ponente.
In this last stage, Volleyball Carcare dusted off an unforgettable event that characterized the world of Volleyball in Carcare, namely the “UNDER THE PLATANI” tournament in vogue between the end of the 90s and 2000s.
As many as 19 competition fields were set up, an army made up of 35 collaborators, 14 participating companies and the protagonists, i.e. the children who colored the city of Carcare with the various colors of their t-shirts, all under the coordination and supervision of the manager of the S3 sector Irene PERSICO.
In parallel to the event there was a moment of solidarity, namely the donation of two volleyball nets and balls made available by the FIPAV Liguria Ponente committee, while the Carcare Volleyball club donated playing kits intended for the Institut Catholique Manuela of Blolèquin in Ivory Coast, run by Father Leopold who takes care of the school.
We have been very pleased to join this project which has been followed by the Irger family for years – comments Michele LORENZO president of the white red company – the initiative was favorably received by our management and above all by our young athletes who wanted to participate in this collection.
As regards the “UNDER THE PLATANI” tournament, it was an event of undoubted value – comments the mayor of Carcare Rodolfo MIRRI – as it brings back to the memory of the volleyball players at the time the first approaches to volleyball and I met many of them who spoke about themselves with enthusiasm and nostalgia. As the municipal administration we have well accepted to offer our square for the organization of this event and Carcare once again proves capable of coordinating various entities of the territory in perfect harmony; on this occasion the Proloco, the traders, the musical group of our high school and the Carcare Volleyball. It was nice to see so many people and especially so many children who really enjoyed themselves, also enlivened by moments of magic shows and good music. The municipal administration – concludes the Mayor – will always be ready to collaborate with these initiatives that enhance our territory.
