MotoGP, Bezzecchi pays for not moving to Pramac. And in Di Giannantonio’s house…

We still can’t see the light at the end of the tunnel Marco Bezzecchi, one of the great negative protagonists of this first part of the 2024 MotoGP World Championship. The exploit in Jerez (3rd in the race behind Bagnaia and Marquez) and the speed expressed in Le Mans (in which he collected nothing due to two falls) had given a glimpse of a possible change of pace, however between Montmelò and Mugello the performance crisis of the rider from Romagna is back in the news.

“Bez”, since the winter tests, he had a lot of trouble getting to grips with the Ducati GP23 paradoxically proving much less competitive than last season in which he amazed himself on the GP22. The native of Rimini had in fact been the revelation of 2023, winning three races and finishing the championship in third position.

An exceptional performance, in the second year in the premier class, which had led Ducati to propose “promoting” him to Team Pramac for 2024 alongside Jorge Martin with the possibility of using the most updated version (GP24) of the Borgo Panigale bike. However, Bezzecchi had refused, choosing to remain in his comfort zone within the ranks of the VR46 team with the GP23.

A decision that in retrospect (at least to date) turned out not to be the happiest, even looking at the direct comparison with his new teammate Fabio Di Giannantonio. The Roman, almost unemployed at the end of 2023 after not being confirmed in Gresini (to make room for Marc Marquez), has had a fair impact in the VR46 team and boasts a margin of almost 30 points over Bezzecchi in the World Championship.
