The issue of a possible new stadium is at the center of the debate between De Laurentiis and the Municipality of Naples. The harsh announcement arrives from the Municipality towards the Italian president.
Over the last few months, Aurelio De Laurentiis he has moved in a concrete way on the stadium front as far as Napoli is concerned. However, the idea has changed several times over the last few months, with the alternation of the renovation of Maradona and the new stadium in Bagnoli.
To date, however, nothing has yet been decided between the parties, who however are in constant contact to find the best solution. A few moments ago, the municipality’s harsh attack came against De Laurentiis regarding the stadium issue.

In home Naples there are many irons in the fire over the course of these months, with De Laurentiis personally involved on various fronts. In addition to on-field issues, i.e. the search for a new coach, the Italian boss is working on off-field issues. The main theme concerns the Napoli stadium, whose future is still uncertain. There has been a lot of talk about the Maradona restylingwith the hypothesis then set aside to focus on a new stadium in Bagnoli.
However, an about-face would have arrived from De Laurentiis, who would like to focus on Maradona again, also given the funds arriving from the Government for the restyling of the facilities for the 2032 European Championships. What is certain is that to date there has only been some chatter between De Laurentiis and the Municipality of Naples, with no project yet presented. This angered several city councilors, including Nino Simeonewho harshly attacked Aurelio De Laurentiis:
“As usual, the good De Laurentis changes his mind and indulges in incorrect statements towards the Mayor and the Municipality of Naples. The truth is there for all to see: currently there is not a shred of a project to build a stadium by SSC Napoli, neither in Fuorigrotta, nor in Bagnoli, nor in the crater of Vesuvius, nor in the center of the Gulf of Naples. When De Laurentis talks about it, he never quantifies the investment that he would like to make available to build it from scratch or to renovate the Maradona. One thing is certain: a serious project will need to be prepared, with an adequate financial plan. The amount should not be less than 200 million euros for the redevelopment of the Maradona, to which the value of the stadium should then also be added, which is around 100 million, more or less like the Meazza in Milan. Otherwise, don’t waste any more of our time! We are already working with the Government and the organizers of Euro 2032 to renovate our Maradona for the European Championships, with or without private partners. As regards the site where the sports center will be built, the proposal of the former Capodichino mental hospital is valid, which could easily be granted to De Laurentiis by President De Luca. Strange, however, that he did not grant him the Collana stadium, owned by the Campania Region. A sports facility of around 25 thousand m2, “within reach” of De Luca, which among other things has been undergoing redevelopment interventions in recent months”.

Over the course of these months, various declarations have arrived from both sides, but there is nothing concrete on the table. As the days pass, the constant statements irritate the the municipality of Naples, who has been waiting for a step forward from De Laurentiis for some time. The ball passes to the Azzurri boss, who will have to demonstrate with facts whether he is interested in investing in Maradona or not.
