Tragedy in Formula 1: the images are terrible

Among the many errors seen during the recent Grand Prix, there are some that could have created a major disaster.

Formula 1 is no stranger to episodes where the nightmare accident turns into something real. And the last test in Montreal also confirmed this assumption, with several riders who really risked a lot, especially when several millimeters of rain fell on the circuit.

The rain itself was a decisive element, especially during pole position: many drivers were unable to maintain the balance of their car and risked carrying out dangerous manoeuvres. During the actual race we then witnessed potentially dangerous situations, incredible overtaking and spins that could have created panic among the drivers. In particular, it aroused amazement and concern Hulkenberg’s maneuver that allowed him to avoid contact with Tsunoda.

Accident avoided in Canada: decisive Hulkenberg reflex

Especially in the final stages of the Grand Prix the decisive episodes took place, such as the retirements of Leclerc and Sainz, the impact of Perez against the barrier and finally the error of Tsunoda who, having lost control of the car after overtaking his Alpine colleague Ocon, ended unexpectedly on the grass. The Racing Bulls driver, however, came close to colliding with Nico Hulkenberg when returning to the track.

The future Sauber driver, now in Haas, had the ability to steer just enough to avoid the Japanese car, which clearly he was still trying to position himself correctly on the track. In the video that has been widely circulated online, we can see the flair of Emmerich’s racer on the Rhine even better: not only was he able to avoid any collision with Tsunoda’s car, but he also had the ability to control his Haas at very high speeds .

Something not for everyone and that inspiration was ultimately decisive in finishing the race in eleventh place in the standings, a few thousandths of a second behind Ocon. “With Tsunoda’s spin, I tried to react to avoid it, but it must have been a few millimeters, honestly I was ready for the crash“, admitted Hulkenberg at the end of the Grand Prix. And these words well describe the moment of panic that the German and Japanese experienced at that precise moment: an instant that could have generated a huge disaster.
